The University of Education is one of six universities of education in Baden-Württemberg with around 6,000 students and over 470 employees. The Ludwigsburg University of Education is a university with the same status as a university with the right to award doctorates and habilitations and focuses on educational science issues in research and teaching. Internationalization is a central theme at the Ludwigsburg University of Education.

The open W3 professorship for General Studies (in German so called Sachunterricht) with a focus on Educational Science is the first of a total of three General Studies professorships to be filled in the near future.

Responsibilities:

  • Research and teaching (9 teaching hours per week) in General Studies with focus on Educational Science.
  • Supervision of school internships.
  • Participation in examinations and in the university's self-administration.
  • Acquisition of third-party funding and regular publication activities.
  • Collaboration with the other professorships for General Studies is expected.
  • Contribute to the University's academic continuing education program.

Requirements:

  • Completed full teacher education (States Exams or Master of Education), preferably for primary school teaching, ideally in the subject of General Studies.
  • Proven ability to conduct scientific work, demonstrated by a completed doctorate.
  • Habilitation (i.e. “second book”) or equivalent scientific achievements in the field of General Studies with a focus on educational science.
  • Pedagogical aptitude, typically demonstrated through teaching experience.
  • Research focus in the field of General Studies with a focus on educational science.
  • Experience in acquiring third-party fundings.

In addition, the service duties and appointment requirements specified in §§ 46 and 47 of the Landeshochschulgesetz (LHG) in their current versions apply. According to § 47 (3), sentence 1 of the LHG, candidates for positions involving educational science or subject-specific teaching tasks in teacher education are generally required to have three years of teaching experience in schools.
